Looking for a good place to find any queen Formica and/or Lasius ants around Boulder Or a Westminster. Also an idea of time of day to look would be awesome!
I believe they should be out now.

I’ve never caught these before so I’m on a mission!

Any tips are appreciated!

Look for areas with lots of varied *native* plant vegetation. Edge habitats, for example where forest meets a clearing, will always have highest diversity of all sorts of organisms due to the many different habitats created. Bike trails, nature trails, and various parks are all good bets to find queens. It all comes down to luck, but you can tip the odds in your favor.
