1. Location of collection: In some mountains. BC Canada.
2. Date of collection: August,10 2015
3. Habitat of collection: Dirt/sandy soil.
4. Length (from head to gaster):Around 9mm for the queens and I think 8 or 7 mm for the workers.
5. Colour, hue, pattern and texture: Colour: Brown and darker brown,No pattern, Smooth texture.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: They're pretty boring for a Formica I'll give you that.
7. Anything else distinctive: They like to raid Myrmica
8. Nest description: A cluster of holes in the ground.
Was on a road trip and stopped for a brake, turns out a bunch of the wasps there were actually Formica males and soon enough the female alates started flying, I got 2 dealates but lost one somewhere on the way back. Anyway I know these are Formica but does anyone have a clue to which species? Thanks in advance.
