Around five workers have died recently in my M. minimum colony, and while I'm not concerned about that amount (the colony is a mid-size one with multiple queens and a lot of brood), I was wondering if there is a general rate of worker ant deaths that's to be expected, so I can tell if anything changes that I should worry about.

Sounds totally normal to me. Tiny ants like those don’t live very long. They will be quickly replaced.
"The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer." Prov. 30:25
Keep ordinary ants in extraordinary ways.
