I purchased one of these to experiment with. It is tiny, but would work for acorn ants and similar. The inside is plaster.
Thoughts?

I don't see a problem with that one if it's plaster, it's usually a good substance. A little suspicious how cheap it is though. Only one way to find out. I'd probably test it on a colony you don't care much about, just in case you know.

There's some sort of glue on the bottom of the plaster. I'm wondering if maybe I should even try using it.

Probably because they're absolutely tiny (and thus useless for most ants).
Perfect for Temnothorax though (especially since they don't even need the nest to be watered).

Do you think the glue they used would be an issue? It's white and almost looks like hot glue.
I messaged the seller and asked what the glue is.

Can you post pictures? My guess is it's silicone and probably not a problem.
Do you mean on the underside of the entire nest block? Might be an isolation layer to prevent the nest from leaking onto the underground.

I'm going to keep this nest and try it out some. The vendor said "resin glue" was used. I don't know of any resin that looks like silicon.
