So I've heard about people making formicariums  out of perfect cast, do they work well? How do you make one? Do they take long to make?

Perfect cast is good, comparable or better to other cementing mediums used. I've got around to a couple guides for perfect cast so far, but hopefully I can make some more in the future. I know Antdrew also uses perfect cast for his builds.

The material itself is very hard - it's advertised as being like plaster but 5x as hard with better molding detail. Never had any problems with mold or ants chewing through. I'm still using formicariums on their third year of use and they should be good for at least a few more years to come.

The downside to perfect cast however is the quantity it comes in - 4 lb bags for about 7.50 apiece. I suppose you get what you pay for though.

Ok, thanks for answering, I plan on making some small horizontal nests. Also, do you have the links to your guides for making nests out of perfect cast?

Would this guide work?   But instead of using ultra cal 30 can I use perfect cast?

It is almost the same material.

How many fallen fortress style 4x4's do you think they could make?

You could make three or four with one bag.
