Hi all, it's been a while and my identification skills are a bit rusty, so I want a little bit of help with two dealates that I found yesterday:
Queen #1:
Location: Jasper, Indiana
Date of collection: May 21st
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Size: 9 mm
Distinguishing features: none
- I found this queen a bit early for what I'm used to finding queens around here. I'm pretty sure that she's a Formica species, but beyond that I'm not sure.
Queen #2:
Location: Jasper, Indiana
Date of collection: May 21st
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Size: 4.5 mm
Distinguishing features: very tiny
- I found this queen in the same spot right after I found the previous queen, she appears to be an Aphaenogaster queen, and I'm kind of hoping that she's not A. tennesseensis because I don't really want to deal with social parasites right now ahah.
