1. Location (on a map) of collection: Concord, MA

2. Date of collection: May 12 midday
3. Habitat of collection: In my yard in the grass near my beehive 
4. Length (from head to gaster): 14-15mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Smooth texture with darker head and mesosoma. Reddish hue to legs and gaster      

6. Distinguishing characteristics: Large ant 
7. Distinguishing behavior: None
8. Nest description: N/A
9. Nuptial flight time and date: N/A

 

I think it’s Camponotus chromaiodes but it could also be C. novaeboracensis or, less likely C. herculeanus.
