1. Location of collection: Michigan
2. Date of collection: around July 17
3. Habitat of collection: a beach
4. Length (from head to gaster): she is half an inch give or take a little.
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: she has a black gaster and some red and black on her head and thorax
6. Distinguishing characteristics: very sensitive
7. Anything else distinctive:
8. Nest description: she was found walking on ground

MrILoveTheAnts told me that this is Formica fusca or pallidefulva.

Too light for fusca, but I do not know for sure. This is Formica for sure.
