Now that I have a hive and have become more aware of the parasites and pathogens that challenge the western honeybee, I’ve also noted reports of success using naturally occurring agents rather than synthetic compounds to combat these disease vectors. Attractant lures made with natural ingredients, mushroom extracts, and rhubarb leaves have demonstrated efficacy in maintaining hive health while minimizing the potential for chemical contamination of the honey harvest. Do any other beekeepers on the forum use these methods? Please describe what you use and how. Thanks!
