I have a Camponotus Sansabeanus queen that won’t hatch her workers. She has a couple of cocoons that are overdue to hatch because she dragged two of them away from the brood pile where they got moldy. I can clearly see the workers through the cocoon and I tried to hatch one myself and it worked. But the worker died a few days later. Does anyone know how to get their queen to hatch its workers?

Try making a small whole in one of the cocoons then set it back on the brood pile do not fully open it and bring it out let it get itself out. It might hatch itself then go on to help the others hatch.

I keep: C. modoc, C. sansabeanus  :D, C. maritimus, Formica argentea, M. mexicanus  :D, Odontomachus brunneus :D, Pogonomyrmex californicus, Pogonomyrmex rugosus,

I tried that, but the worker hasn’t hatched.
