I purchased a $7 cell phone clip on lens that included a wide angle, fisheye, and macro lens. It's pretty cheap feeling, and I think the fisheye lens is scratched, but I only care about the macro lens.

I've attached a picture of both my queens; you can see them much better than the cell phone alone. Only drawback is the need for good lighting, since the clip and lens blocks the camera flash.

All told, it's worth the $5-8 bucks if you don't have a decent camera, or are looking to take some quick snapshots.

As an aside: I'm not mistaken in my identification (Camponotus pennsylvanicus) of these girls, am I? Now that I've examined them both close up side by side, I'm noticing differences but I'm not sure if it's just different angles.

Good to hear.  Lot's of people here have those macro lenses and have had good results with them (me included).
