Mini Hearth might be a bit too small. I would go with a Mini Hearth XL. Even if they did fit perfect in the mini, they would very quickly grow out of it.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right were you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that are not found in your area.
No, I have a colony of Formica around thirty workers and they are just fine in a Mini hearth. At this stage a XL would be too large for the colony.
