Fruit is risky as there is a chance that it will contain pesticides and kill your ants.

 Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?

There are so many fascinating ants right were you live!

I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that are not found in your area.

I’m pretty sure I gave them orange cantaloupe. It might have been honeydew melon.

It was organic and I made sure there was no rind on it.

For my really small colonies I sprinkle dry, granulated sugar in a location where it will stay dry. A little goes a long way. This could work in a test tube also.
My father always said I had ants in my pants.

To improve the acceptance and use of a byFormica type liquid feeder for my small ants I put a small piece of paper towel or cotton in the opening of the base that you screw the vial into. Not a lot, just enough to cover the holes.  When the vial is screwed in it wets the cotton and my small ants seem to transition from a cotton ball to the feeder very quickly.  I also found that my Tetras eventually made suitable sized holes in the cotton where they could drink.  Lastly, make sure you put some sugar water in the openings on the bottom before you install it for the first time so they can find it easily as I have seen my ants wander aimlessly around not realizing there was sugar water right above their heads.

Hey guys I need y'alls help again. What is the best way without purchasing the liquid ant feeders to give small ants their sugars. I currently have a small colony of tetramorium immigrans and they keep drowing in their honey, sugar or whatever i feed them. Because their colony is still small these unnecessary deaths aren't helping them. What are other things could I be using to help them get their sugars without risking having them drown. If you do have the liquid ant feeder towers that you can buy online would you recommend them to me?

You could try soaking a piece of cotton ball in sugar water. They would still be able to drink, but they would not drown.

Can't you just cut from the inside of the fruit? The pesticides can't get inside.

Can't you just cut from the inside of the fruit? The pesticides can't get inside.
