Soon after my black C. vicinus had her first worker eclose, her collection of eggs and larvae mysteriously disappeared. I'm assuming she didn't have enough protein in her diet? What's weird is I fed her pretty consistently, most of which she rejected except for nectar, including flies, crickets, Blue, etc. Any other suggestions for what C. vicinus might accept?

Protein should have little to do with it.

 

You need to be focused on making her symbiotic microfauna happy.  Small colonies are most easily wiped out because their collective colony gut is still in its infancy and highly susceptible to stress, out of range temperatures, and dehydration.  As the colony grows larger, this gut load increases, and the colony becomes more resilient.

 

Brood boost for best short-term results.  Then, ensure the temperature is appropriate and she has plenty of water and carbohydrates.
