Some good guesses here! But are they right? Well, you'll find out tomorrow.

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?

There are so many fascinating ants right were you live!

I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that are not found in your area.

I don't know if this is OK but over on Mastodon we've been arguing about what species of ant MC Esher used as a model for his famous drawing.

Starting this July I'm posting videos of my ants every week on youTube.

I like to make relaxing videos that capture the joy of watching ants.

If that sounds like your kind of thing... follow me >here<

It reminds me a lot of a Formica queen, but the head is too wide.

Reminds me a little bit of Iberoformica subrufa, not sure why but it just popped into my head when I see it.

Began antkeeping in 2018  :)

Formica subsericea? Maybe he just got the head a bit too big?

Here is a drawing I did if people want to guess:

Aphaenogaster sp.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
