I stumbled across this ant counter and made some quick estimates of the amount of workers and brood in some of the images below. The dot placement system is manual, but it only takes a few minutes to complete an image.  The dots also reveal how the ants and brood are grouped in each image, something that may otherwise be overlooked. I know some people have already been using this site for quite a while but I thought some other keepers might find this useful in getting accurate population estimates.

Very cool, I've gotta check it out for my mexicanus colony. Last I counted was 11 workers, but they should be well over 30 now. Decent egg pile too.

Great tool but only works to a certain colony size. Once the ants start stacking, interlocking or huddling themselves into a big blob it gets impossible to tell where one ant ends and another one starts.
