Hi! I am curious what type of ant nest you ( This means everyone who reads this post) would want? What features do you think would be ideal? Thanks!

No. I am going to start a company, and I want feedback on what type of nest designs are popular. My company also has not been introduced yet, because I am in the testing phase, and I want to make sure my products are something new that Antkeepers would like, not just another ant nest. Edit: Sorry it does look like I was writing to someone, Sorry for the inconvenience.

If one of you knows what type of sponge is the best for ant nests, a link would be greatly appreciated!  :D

I believe those blue PVA sponges are ideal.

The market for new ant companies is getting pretty saturated at this point, to be honest.

Yeah, I already know that there are a lot of ant nest sellers, but I want to provide a Canadian source that has good ant nests, therefor I am wondering what type of features would be ideal to put in my ant nests.

3D printed is not the way in that case.

Why not? I have heard that it is not ideal, but so far everything I have tested, like wether or not it allows enough humidity, has been successful. So just because it has a bad reputation, does not mean that it is true.

The only competition you have in Canada is 3d printed, why not try something original if you actually wanna compete? Just a suggestion :)

Nothing wrong with 3D printing, but if you want to break into an oversaturated market, you need to think up something new.

This is factually wrong. The problem is that anyone with a 3d printer and their mom can make a nest. That's why extensive testing should go into 3d printed nests. For example, I'm going to test my 3d printed nests for a minimum of two months to see how well they do.

good amount of hydration. A lot that I see happen with nests is people put way too little hydration that evaporates very quickly.

Hi antsriondel if you can and are not already using oneI would recommend using a resin 3d printer as they are much more precise and will allow for better accuracy in design allowing smaller holes so there may be less escapes. It is also much quicker to print, it is more expensive for the resin and the printer but it would be greatly worth it for the cause you are using it for!

You're supposed to concept ideas yourself, this is how good business ideas start.  A good idea is to see what people already like, why they like it, and take inspiration from multiple places.

Hmm, I have seen where these are much more useful, I might have to invest in them sometime in the future. For now they are out of my budget and I have already bought a 3d printer.

Yeah, I was just wondering if he had any thoughts. This thread is mainly for what type of features do you think as an ant keeper with experience would be ideal, and what do you think would be necessary.
