In captivity, ant colonies only need to be hibernated for a fraction of the time that they rest in the wild. However, with my slave maker colonies it has gotten quite difficult to supply them with brood during the cold winter months as i can only use my captive host colonies rather than wild ones. In that regard, could i get away with doing a full 6 month hibernation without the colony potentially starving or any other side effects?

I've done it when I was moving or didn't have the energy. I never had anything happen as long as the temperature and humidity remained ideal.
