1. Location (on a map) of collection: Pensacola, Florida, USA
2. Date of collection: 6 pm 11/06/2022
3. Habitat of collection: On the wall outside my back door. Saw a smaller version of this, assuming this is a major carpenter ant and the smaller one was a minor worker.
4. Length (from head to gaster): around 1.5 cm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: abdomen looks black, thorax looks either like a lightish red/oranage or a darkish brown/burnt orange
6. Distinguishing characteristics: large size, nice sized head
7. Distinguishing behavior: was super activerunning around at first, now sitting in one spot. Releasing soon.
8. Nest description: didn't seeit

9. Nuptial flight time and date:n/a

Thanks for the I.d.'s, guys!! I had a feeling that's what it was . I might look for their colony tomorrow,they're so beautiful I'd love to see more (without disturbing them, of course)
