Anyone else see it? The ant science was pretty bad, but I still enjoyed the idea of ants not just being pests or monsters in a movie.

Another thought I had was that our country is so sadly sexist. Whoever did the ant research enough to drop some of the scientific ant names and characteristics could not have somehow missed the fact that all the ants used in the movie would be female and yet they are referred "guys" throughout and Ant-Man named one Antony. This despite the very strong themes of the movie having to do with father/daughter relationships, responsibility and caring; missed opportunities to have the main character grow thru learning about real ant social behavior.

Cool scene in the tunnels showing actual flotilla behavior. I bet people who don't know better thought that scene was preposterous.

I've never seen a scientifically accurate portrayal of ants through TV/movies. Antz, A bugs life, Ant-Man, Them and Miniscule. Only TV show I remember that portrayed ants accurately was that episode of the Magic School Bus. Haha Anyone remember that show? :P

What I see portrayed in all those kid's shows are male workers and female workers that reproduce, like in a Bug's Life, and somehow the notion that ants only eat seeds. But of course, children don't like ants swarming over a mouse carcass, do they?

The thing with genders are that no one seems to grasp the notion that females rule an ant colony and males just do the reproductive work. Face it guys, ant life is dominated by females. Well, that's sort of true with humans, in a way......

In history, most of the wifes beside the rulers played an imortant role.
