This is one of the many ants I got from Sub a week or so ago after not having ants for a while.  She and the other queens took a bit to start laying eggs, but now since they've started, I have started the journals for them.  So far I have just been giving her some water every now and then, sugar water, and just recently a dead fruit fly for possible larvae.  I will post more once I can tell for sure if there are any larvae or changes.  Keeping her in a THA founding thing.

It's cool how many people have these this year. Now we will be able to see how well they do under all sorts of different care and setups.

I had six. Now I got five. Just checked on them and one of them has died. They are all in a test tube/dirt setup. All of them had eggs.

She's not yellow anymore, either. Kind of a  burnt orange now.

It has been a while since I have last posted about my ants.  I think it is time for an update.  She has thinned out quite a bit since I have posted this.  She doesnt have eggs currently, but she does have a bunch of cocoons and 2 or 3 larvae.  I put some cricket abdomens in with her and she just ignores them along with any sugar water.  I will post some pictures later today hopefully.

She always has water, and with the nectar I give her she just uses the substrate to soak it up and then she ignores it.

Nothing to do then but to leave her in quiet.

The colony you see above has died a long time ago.

The new colony I have is doing fairly well so far.  These images were taken last week, so they're a bit dated.  She now has two nanitics with her after having her original group of about 6 die due to me being unable to provide them with food for a while.  I'll take more pictures when I'm not too lazy.

Looks pretty cool. She has quite the inflated gaster.

Yeah, she drank a lot of Sunburst Ant Nectar a day or so before I took the images.

I did not know you had any journals. I wish I had Myrmecocystus in Tennessee...

Most of these were from 2015 and have been hidden since then, haha.  I am usually too lazy to make/update any journals.

The queen above has died.

I don't have many pictures of my Myrmecocystus mexicanus founding queens, but I had originally caught 17 queens right as they were digging their founding chambers.  When dspdrew and I came across them, we were pretty damn happy, haha. Right now, the slowest queen has several eggs in a pile and the fastest has 4 cocoons.

Yes, my picture quality is bad.
