what ant? 5 cm! lives in NC and workers are reddish with a black abdomen. (Workers are polymorphic) added better pics :)

Could you please give a picture, and the length of the ant?


 Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?

There are so many fascinating ants right were you live!

I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that are not found in your area.

wrong. This appears to be pinkomyrmex floyderus, which while rare, has been described previously.

In all seriousness, all of the guesses on this thread have been jokes. There is no image or link to images that anyone can see. How did you try and put the image into the post?

Edit: if it is 5 cm long then it is probably camponotus or a related genus. Did you mean 5mm?
