I'd like to get an A.versicolor founding colony, but don't have air conditioning. I know that temperature for their fungus has to be specific, what are some alternatives to keep the fungus cool?

Are you asking for alternative ideas for climate control?

A. versicolor fungus is slightly more temperature tolerant than other leafcutter species. I can speak from experience that 88f is not enough to kill it, at least not quickly. Still, I would recommend trying to keep the temps below 85 if possible, and would definitely not go over 90f, ever.

Thanks I didn't know that it was that tolerant. It still gets to 90s in the summer though.

You could do a peltier pad setup, but instead of having the hot side on the inside, you have the cold side on the inside. You could also try to find a wine cooler of sort or reptile climate control setup that can be adjusted to go to a good temperature range.

I kept mine in the low 70s for 3 years and 10 months.  It's safe.

Mine live on a shelf. The founding queens/colonies live on my floor if I don’t have enough space.
