do Camponotus sansabeanus need to hibernate? i took heat off of her last night some told me to keep heat on her some told me to take the heat off and put her in the refrigerator  or someone that's cooler like basement

then they will need to hibernate in the fridge for about 4 months

just put them in there it won't be to cold for them ?

just put them in there it won't be to cold for them ?

take them off heat for about a week then put them if have no brood at all or just small lavae for 2 weeks and make shore they are full of food

should i put them in the crisper or should i put a rag under them then put them in the crisper or what place do you think is a good spot in there ? also should i feed them fruit flies or just honey and Sugar water ?

wait to see if the large lave grows if it dose not grow put them into hibernation

feed them sugar water and some fruit fly's  put a rag on them then put them in the crisper

i took the heat off of them yesterday should i put them back on it ?

Colonies are typically ready for hibernation once they only have small larvae. I would wait for their current larger brood to finish developing before hibernating them. Though if the colony isn't preparing for hibernation on their own and you want to force them, then take them off the heat, reduce or stop feeding proteins, fatten them up on sugars.

 i have put camps in hibernation for 3 month and they don't lay eggs for me but most of my camps are form the mountains that  are very cold for 4 to 5 months

works very well i have don this many times with lasius sp

ok i put the heat back on should i put fruit flies in there with sugar water ? i can't do both sugar water and fresh water at the same time
