Beginner ants

Description: Tetramorium Immigrans, AKA Tetras, are the most common ant species in North America. Queens tend to measure 6-7mm, and workers 3-5mm. Colonies can grow up to 10,000 workers within the first 1-2 years.

Description: Nylanderia flavipes, the “Yellow Footed Ant” is a relatively small species. Queens tend to measure 4-5mm, and workers at 2-3.5mm.

Correction: Tetramorium are most likely not the most common species in North America. While they are invasive and quite common in many places, there are still many, many native species which are more common than it, i.e. Lasius americanus, etc.
