Recently, my myrmecocystus mexicanus grows too fast and the original nest is not enough for them to live in.

I searched for the honeypot nest for mexicanus and I found most ppl recommend the Tarheelants. I am wondering how long will it take to get the Tarheelants' Nucleus. And if it takes too long to receive the Nucleus, then what other alternatives will you recommend for the honeypot?

Thanks a lot!!!!

It may take four to six weeks. If you want one right away, check the ready to ship page on the THA site.

It usually takes at least several months for the bigger nests in my experience.

It took four weeks for my mini hearth to be made, so yeah it will probably take four to six weeks.

It took well over 2 months for my order of a fallen fortress and a fortress. The wait is long but the product is great.

I got mine in a week and half about a year ago. Otherwise it typically takes a while. Like antdrew said, browse the ready to ship formicariums if your in a rush.

as others have said, fulfillment times for tarheel nests can be several months if they are not ready-to-ship, especially true for larger nests such as the Nucleus.

Arthropod Antics does offer nests that are designed for honeypot ants (https://www.arthropo...ical-formicaria), however if your issue is space, then you may need something larger than even the Vertical Formisquarium XL, in which I'd say Tarheel Ants is a viable alternative, assuming you want your colony contained in a single nest. You could also always just chain several Vertical Formisquariums together, as I plan on doing for my M. mexicanus down the line, however that's not always the "cleanest" solution.

I like leafcutter ants. Watch The Ultimate Guide to Fungus Growing Ants:

This video took like over 100 hours of work, you should for sure watch it.

For my 4 main myrmeccystus colonies what I have started doing is ordering nests in advance. For instance I just moved my Myrmecocystus mendax colony into a mini hearth style formicarium and I thus ordered a larger sized formicarium for them so it will either be here before they need it or I will have it right on time.
