Ecan's Solenopsis journal

From late June through most of July, Solenopsis xyloni would have their nuptial flights at about 8:30pm. Solenopsis amblychila also had some smaller flights at the same time, but I was unable to keep most of them since I didn't have any xyloni workers to give them. Fortunately I was able to catch an amblychila queen on August 2nd (queen 1) and another one on the 7th (queen 2). Some of the xyloni queens got workers recently, so on the 4th I was able to give amblychila queen 1 a few workers and brood. And I will the same with queen 2 later today.
