While visiting family in Oregon last week, I came across a small colony of large termites while chopping wood. The soldier as shown in the images was about 16 mm long. I've never seen any termites this big, but then again I live in Utah. I believe these to be similar to Zootermopsis angusticollis, commercially sold in "Termitats". Does anyone have any experience with termites in the Northwest, or own a Termitat who might know what species this is?

They are Zootermopsis angusticollis. I used to have a colony but I gave it away to a friend. I find these guys in almost every log up in the Sierria mountains. They are crazy big with giant menacing majors.
