found in desert when anting ,

I thought it is big head ant ,but it is bigger than Pheidole I have seen .

does anyone know this ?

I would lean more towards P. vistana or P. desertorum rather than P. hyatti on this one.

You need to go the day of rain or at least the next day. Anything after that and the queens will be 2 feet underground.

I don’t think they will dig that deep under ground that fast

Yea I went exactly a day after some heavy rain. When I didn’t find anything, I went to where it had rained an hour before, still nothing. Which area did you go looking?

Not 100% sure you were quoting me, but I went to apple valley last Saturday… it had just rained.

That’s crazy do you think queens will fly if it doesn’t rain sense in my area it doesn’t really rain in the summer and I’m looking for harvester queens
