Can I brood boost a Tetramorium queen with no workers by adding an adult worker from a wild colony? Or should I only boost with larvae?
I'd dip the worker in vinegar or briefly put them in the fridge together to help them assimilate.

Do not put adult workers in with another colony unless you want to see a lot violence. You’ve seen their sidewalk wars, right?

My good friend AntsDakota(not to be confused with me) has tried this many times. It has worked before, however, as you suggested, dipping the queen in vinegar would help immensely. (Tetras grow so fast though, your colony will be that size in like 2 years...)Can I brood boost a Tetramorium queen with no workers by adding an adult worker from a wild colony? Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest. -Proverbs 6: 6-8

Um, yes I did try that, and the workers will not accept a foreign queen under any circumstance. Pupae are the way to go, always. However I would simply grow the colony from scratch, as they will reach several hundred or more workers within a year of founding.

I thought you got a colony to accept. It is in theory possible using vinegar.Um, yes I did try that, and the workers will not accept a foreign queen under any circumstance. It should be noted that the probability is small, as Tetras are hyperaggressive towards anything that is slightly different from their colony pheromone. I tried vinegar and water, neither worked for more than a few minutes.
