Hey folks!
I was on vacation in Idaho for a few days, and was lucky enough to find FIVE queen ants on my trip there. I was only about to bring four back home.
I wanted to ask for some identification on these four ants, and figured I'd put them all in one post to cause less spam. I'll refer to these ants as Queen1 (Q1), Queen 2 (Q2) ext...
Queen 1 - First 4 images.
Found her in the early morning on the 6th. Kinda cool that she still has her wings. I'm sorry I don't have measurements for these ants, If you need or would like different/better pictures id be happy to get more in better light tomorrow.
Queen 2 - Next 4 images.
Safe to say its some kind of carpenter ant. I did find it on the side of a large cut down log on a very very hot day (above 90f) on the 6th. Definitely the largest of the four queens by far.
Queen 3 - Next 4 images
I know these images aren't particularly helpful, but she was quite the mobile one. Found her mid day near a grassy riverside. She was walking onto pavement. Found her today on the 7th actually.
Queen 4 - Next 4 images
I also know these aren't great quality images. Found her is a shady grassy park somewhat near a large river. It was around 2pm. She's by far the smallest of the bunch, where as Q1 and Q3 are very similar in size (wouldn't be surprised if maybe they are the same species?).
Last images are all them together and in the box ill be keeping them in my closet.
Again, thank you so very much for your time with all these! again, if you need better images, just let me know, thankyou!
