So I've had this dud myrmecocystus mexicanus colony for about a year and they grew exceptionally fast despite being a possible dud. They grew to about 50 workers and slowed down and had a slow die out, still had no idea why, but that's not the worst part. They were my favorite colony so I was pretty heartbroken when I went to check on my colonies water, I noticed I forgot to put their lid back on the mini hearth and my solenopsis xyloni completely escaped their AC setup by chewing through a stopper and decimated my honeypots and decided to make that their home too. A grim reminder to always make sure your setups are secure around escape artists.
