Hello!  I have collected two Colobopsis sp. alate females.  I am under the presumption they have mated. Anyone successfully gotten this genus to found colonies in captivity?  If so, please share your protocols.

Thanks!!

It seems to be the same care as in Camponotus. I have a colony of Camponotus (Colobopsis) yogi and they are one of the easier ants I care for. They readily take any protein and love their sugar water. Pretty simple in my opinion but this might be different for other colobopsis.

I’ve successfully raised these to workers. I put two or three queens together in these small tubes that previously had bubble solution in them. They are about 10mm across at the opening. I’ll try to post a photo.

So you have found that combining queens is a better option?

Here’s what I use.

Yes these are similar tubes that I use.

I had success founding them in normal sized tubes (16 and 20mm diameter) last year. I had obliqua and they did much better with more queens. I also added pieces of cork to the tubes, which did not seem to affect success.
