I recently went on vacation for a week and this colony had a HUGE die off due to dehydration, before I left I had watered their nest but forgot to refill their water source in the outworld and the colony had around 70% of the colony die due to my negligence I hate myself right now.

I'm sorry for your loss. one trick i use when i know i won't be able to check on my colonies a lot is to keep them in a cooler place so they need less water. :)

Really sorry to hear this. This species drinks water likes it’s 1999. As long as the queen and some workers survived, they should recover fine.

Diapause update 17/10/22

This colony has recovered pretty well from the die off. At the moment they number at around 150 workers with a TON of eggs and small larvae that are being overwintered. I really really like this species and hope they survive diapause. The queen that I caught  this year has also been put in diapause and I hope she survives the winter.

Pictures:

Sorry for the bad quality the queen was not cooperating also some of the brood
