Hello,
I was browsing the antsemproium website when a friend told me C. Discolor could be shipped to my state… of course, I checked the page where C. Discolor is sold, and Florida is not listed.
https://antsemporium...&pr_seq=uniform
Now, he sent me this link also from AE
https://antsemporium...ped-to-my-state
So here are some screenshots of the information, and can Camponotus discolor be shipped to Florida or is there an error? If I see this again, which page should I trust?

Maybe a typo, I don't think they live in Florida

They definitely do exist in FL. It is possible Garrett forgot to delete Florida from the list.

I may be mistaken but if they were captured and sold within the state of Florida that would be ok. But since they would be shipped out of state, the usda doesn't allow it. In fact they barely allow anything to come in florida for almost all non native and native insects since it's so warm year round. It's easy for non native species to adapt to the area and become invasive.

They live in Florida, and one list claims that AE has a permit, and the other doesn’t deny it, but just doesn’t say it. Maybe they forgot to update it? We will see what AE says.
True. I have found some impressive foraging trails…(Not colony though as they went under someone’s AC unit, and the other side trailed onto their roof)

Looking now though, Tarheel ants ships them to Florida. So no idea why AE couldn't.

Probably a typo of Garrett’s behalf. I see if I can say something to him about it.

That is true, but Ant Emporiums are kinda cheaper. The only thing is Tar Heel ants have professionally identified their ants as Camponotus discolor.

I received C discolor from THA and they are some neat little ants! They hunt down the live fruit flies like a bunch of bad@sses. It’s cool to watch them. They do not spook, don’t mind the light, and while very active they are not lightning quick. I think they are my favorite.

How fast do they grow?

C. discolor grows a little quicker than most larger Camponotus due to their small size. I agree C. discolor is probably one of my favorite species, I always try to find faster growing polymorphic ants since Pheidole isn't readily available to me.

Probably the same as most other camponotus, which is moderate-slow.
I was just curious as they look pretty similar to Floridanus, which explodes so fast they can become a real pain
