Worker or queen?

1. Troy Michigan, in my house

2. 5/21/2022

3. Collected today 

4. Habitat unknown

5. About 4 - 6 mm long

6. Black with maybe slight dark red in the middle

7. Everything else I have left out is unknown as I have captured this ant in my house

 

I'm fairly sure its a worker

Possibly Camponotus, can't really tell without pictures.

its too small to be camponotus. Its comparable to a lasuis neoniger worker size, just slightly bigger, maybe one mm or so bigger.

And I added the pictures now. There was a issue before

Camponotus are some of the largest ants in North America. What do you mean it’s “too big?”

Oh well this appears to be a worker in the subgenus myrmentoma, which are much smaller than most camponotus.

I suspected it was a worker because it was too small to be a queen, and I couldn’t see any wing scars.

And to be clear, Camponotus (Myrmentoma) nearcticus is a small species that does enter houses in eastern USA. 

This one looks like it.
