Several of us are. Welcome to the forum. What are your questions?

I wouldn’t put your contact info on a public forum. Use private messages instead. We have well over 100 species in our area, but your most common ants are Tapinoma, Lasius, Tetramorium, Camponotus, Crematogaster, Aphaenogaster, and Nylanderia. If you’re in Lorton, I’d spend time searching around Pohick Bay or Prince William Forest. Really anywhere that has a lot of undisturbed native vegetation should have lots of colonies. Learn the times and conditions for your target species to fly and just spend lots of times outside. Luck favors the vigilant.

Thank you for responding so quickly!  These are my questions. What are the native species to VA?  What are the best species for beginners?  What is the best set up?  Does anyone have pictures of their colonies that I could see?  Is there a group I could join?  Where is the best place to get ants and supplies?

I hope to hear from you soon!

Check out antmaps.org and antwiki.org. These will help answer a lot of future questions.
