3. Found in a local park under a large stone next to a pond
4. About 4mm long
5. Reddish-brown cuticle
6. Gaster strongly curled, either eyeless or extremely small eyes, antennae moderately clubbed
7. Moves slowly, not adept at climbing
8. Unclear whether its nest was under the stone where it was found, Pristomyrmex punctatus workers were just a few centimeters away
9. Nuptial flight data unknown
I found this ant under a large stone next to some Pristomyrmex punctatus workers, and because of its larger size and curled abdomen, originally assumed it was a queen P. punctatus, which I had never encountered before. When the workers failed to associate with it in captivity, I took a closer look and found it looks more like a Proceratium worker, maybe P. itoi? I don't have much experience in identification, so any help would be appreciated, thanks!
