I found an active colony on the side of box spring mountains in riverside, it caught my eye as you can see there are alates as well. Unfortunately I was unable to get close up pictures bc I was walking my dog and he doesn't like to stop and wait long, but I was able to get a short video (pretty close up) that I will include an imgur link to. I saw them this morning after a night rain.

 

-Habitat type is desert scrub, but neat to a riparian zone

-Unable to measure these ants as I wasn't planning to stumble upon them, I would say the workers are between 5-10mm

-Nest was dug in the sandy soil, and coarse gravel.

yup got to go with foresluis reccomend if alates take of stay for a little lonfer to find queens


What i am keeping Brachymyrmex patagonicus 1 worker x5 tetramorium immigrans 10 workers x2 lasius crypticus 5 workers Pheidole californica 6 queens150~ workers 10-30 majors, Formica argentea 10~ W

 

 

What I've kept crematogaster sp pheidole californica camponotus vicinus high elev, dumetorum,laevigatus, prenolepis imparis, pogonomyrmex californicus and subnitidus and californicus, veromessor andrei, camponotus sayi, hypoponera opacior ,Liometopum occidentale solnopsis molesta group, solenopsis xyloni.
