Hello!

I recently was looking for a queen near the surface in a mature colony. I was about to leave, but I spotted the queen! I had been wondering if the species for a while now, but now I have a queen with a colony, I will ask. What is this?(No measurements I lost ruler so I put dime in most photos
Brood pile is as big as a dime, males are yellow, majors are black with large red heads, queen has black head and abdomen with red thorax.

Also, they were found in sandy soil like most of Florida(If this helps)(Oops sorry forget too attach)

Pheidole, crassicornis group or obscurithorax, but someone better with Pheidole will need to confirm species or species group.

Pheidole obscurithorax.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
