Do you have pictures of the novaeboracensis? This species is uncommon in VA and chromaiodes is occasionally misidentified as novae.

You're right! They were chromaiodes😁👍. I only took a quick glance, but I should've been more thorough before posting for sale! I've fixed it now as well as added new ants!

Don't you have Trachies all over in Florida?
Also, possibly Acromyrmex sp. That lives in the very south (I think it may have been in the islands south of Florida, but I thought there were some reports in the Southern tip of Florida too🤔)

Yes, but can’t ship across state borders-It’s illegal(Right?)(And me and SolenopsisKeeper have had trouble finding queens of this species)

I’ll have to look into those sightings

The queens were collected from flights (some soon afterwards) and the workers and fungus are from my queen less colony😁👍

Yes! That's them! Though I had read a report somewhere that had a couple sightings in Florida too. Also, the maps on ant wiki and ant web are a bit outdated and normally don't include new ranges of invasives and increase or decreases in ranges.

And yes, sadly I don't have any permits to transport Trachies into florida🤷‍♂️ Though I've visited Florida many times in the past and know some good areas where there are some!

What weather conditions, are wind is WAY too high for anything right now.

So that colony could have an infertile queen?

I find most colonies in Central Florida(There are some very populated cities, don’t get confused I’m talking about smack down center of Florida) it is all Undisturbed farmland and only recently are neighborhoods being built.

Typically no. I've noticed that the workers treat the queen like nothing if she's infertile, but if she is fertile, she gets a lot of attention. I've already singled out the infertile and what's being put up for sale are the viable ones😁👍

I may have to try this with queens of this species! Do you happen to know how deep they dig? I dug down 3 feet, and found nothing, only some brood.

Yes, in Florida they don't hibernate, so they typically have 2-3 chambers. The first chamber is always within 1 foot from the surface and the next 1-2 will be a foot under that. My trick is to find a long strip of grass and stick it down the hole to find which direction the tunnel goes, then dig until you find the first chamber, be careful not to cover the next tunnel downwards and do the same trick for the last/next chamber. I also tend to dig next to where I know the chamber is to avoid the sand collapsing in on the fungus and killing it. If you cut un from the side, you don't bury it😁👍
