Found under pieces of wood in the backyard on the dates mentioned. I believe they fly in the evening. I have found 3 live queens, and two dead ones.
Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).

Good for you. Trust me, it won't last long. There was just a massive nuptial flight of these In my yard, so I doused them with a bottle of wood cleaner because I don't own a single can of raid.

Sadly they infest my area too. Seen them decimate so many xyloni colonies, stupid little buggers. I wish I could decimate the entire colony spanning through my entire neighborhood lol

They destroy anything and everything in there path, from native ants to entire bird species. I really wish it was as simple as spraying a bottle of wood cleaner, but sadly there's pretty much nothing we can do (I'd love to hear a "challenge accepted!")
