Question: Do Lasius Niger live in Indiana? Someone said no, but, if they live in most of North America, I don't know. I've tried ten different searches on Google, and, it always just replies: They live in Europe and most of North America!

Pretty much all of the records of Lasius niger in the US are either dubious or need verification, with the exception of New York and Washington, where they are exotic.

Lasius neoniger is native to most of not all of North America.

I'm confused when you mean, most of not all of North America. What does that mean?? Does that mean they live there, or not? Thank you so much though!!!

Please take your time reading responses. Lasius niger is not known to exist in abundance in the United States, however a number of very similar species (i.e. other species in the L. "niger"-group), do exist, including Lasius neoniger, which is very common. Lasius neoniger are typically referred to as 'Labor Day Ants', as their nuptial flights occur very close to and frequently on Labor Day. There is a wealth of information regarding North-American Lasius, this forum is for asking questions, yes, but please do at least a little bit of research beforehand.

Well, Lasius neoniger is native to Indiana, but Lasius niger, as I mentioned earlier, is a species that needs confirmation.

Haha yeah I was surprised several species had another mini flight. No C. quercicola or  C. laevigatus though which was the main reason I went up there.
