Species: Tetramorium cf. immigrans

Date: 06-28-18

Time: ~10:40 am-5:30 pm (I don't know the flight time so that's the range within which I saw roaming queens)

Temp: ~28 Celsius

Humidity: 56%

Wind: No breeze

Rain: Intermittent heavy-light showers since Saturday

Only caught one, not the most interesting species.

Quite a large flight, proved by how big the time frame I could find them was.

Edit: Pg. 60 wow :ok:

The area around the Victoria park-Huntingwood/Old Shepard intersection. I just went out for a walk and saw 2 more so you still have a chance.  (y)

Finally got to witness some action up close!  :D Witnessed alates escaping the nest and taking off (or struggling to take off, lol). Collected a fertile queen a few days ago in a different area of town.

Species: Formica Argentea

Location: Urban area, Northglenn, Colorado, USA (Denver Metro Area)

Elevation: ~5700ft

Date: 06/29/2018

Time: 11:45am

Temp: 84F (high of 96F predicted)

Humidity: 14%

Wind: 10 mph

Rain: 5-7 days before, minor rainshowers (Note this is an urban area, nearby sprinkler systems go off regularly.)

It's been usually hot early in the year, so I think it is triggering this species to a fly a bit earlier than "normal", since the scientific literature on AntWiki says flight should be expected in late July.

As I've noticed before, the flights happen between 3:30 am and 8:00 am - I find the best time to look if you want lots of queens is at 5:00 am.

What do the numbers in the chart represent?

Number of observations.

Species: Lasius americanus

Location: Richmond, BC

Date: June 4th, 2018

Time: 6:45 PM - 8:00 PM

Temperature: 68°F

Humidity: 72%

Wind: 9km/h

Rain: few days before and light drizzle at around 9:00 PM

Notes: The L. americanus here seem to either fly on a clear sky directly after rain or before rain, or fly just before rain on very warm cloudy days. This time it seems to be the latter.

A single Tetramorium immigrans dealate was found, likely flew earlier during the day.

1:10 ratio of the smaller gynotype to larger gynotype in terms of numbers.

Smaller gynotype vs larger gynotype.
