Hit 70 degrees today. Found what i thought was a few Prenolepis imparis males in Wisconsin. But never found any queens. I ended up biking across town to look in one spot and to another that was several miles away. I put on over 20 miles on a walmart bike, which isn't easy to do, and I found nothing.

do honeypot ants exist in ontario canada?

Prenolepis imparis does but not 'true honeypots' as in Myrmecocystus.

They're only found in western North America.

Species: Camponotus chromaiodes, Camponotus pennsylvanicus (exclusively males), Camponotus cf. nearcticus (exclusively males).

Location: Philadelphia, PA.

Date: May 2, 2018.

Time: 8:30 PM - 10:00 PM EST.

Temperature: 77°-80° F

Wind: Very little wind.

Precipitation: More than a week prior.

Humidity: 54%

Pressure: 1015.23 mb

Method: Standard black light lure.

First notable Camponotus nuptial flight of the season. Also the very first time my brother and I have caught a Carpenter Ant queen that was not, in fact, C. pennsylvanicus. I am fairly certain she is C. chromaiodes, but I will include some photographs if anyone would like to confirm for me. For reference, she is approximately 16-17 mm in length.
