Are you sure? I actually haven't found any queens yet, but doesn't formica species fly more towards the beginning of summer around here?

I'm interested in trying my hands on ant keeping, been doing a bit of research on Myrmecocystus mexicanus, I live in Las vegas and from what i gathered so far their usual flight is some time in July, following heavy rain fall at dusk? My question is does any one know any good areas near by where I can look for queens and is there any chance for me to catch them if I miss the actual flight? By a day or two ect.

They have laid eggs. I'm gonna buy a camera soon so I can take pictures. My phone pictures are horrible. Oh, they didn't have wings to begin with drew.
