Can anyone give me tips on how to start these from scratch?

I don't know much about any Ponerine ants but the usual advice for Ponera spp. and other small Ponerine ants  is that they do much better with substrate.

My parents found one of those huge Crematogaster queens that people often find in southern California. They do fly about this time, and I tend to see queens for about two weeks. My mom brought her home and I put her in a test tube.

They are unique because the queen is huge, and the workers are a bit bigger than normal Crematogaster workers. But, the main advantage to the queens size according to Drew and his colony, is the colony gets a lot bigger (or grows faster anyway).

Hopefully she is a success, because Crematogaster and Camponotus are two species I've never had luck with lol. Probably the two worst genus of ant for me for some reason. They always get to worker stage (1-3 workers) and then they die. But, this Crematogaster queen is really cool because she is pretty much the size of a Camponotus. I remember last year I even thought she was a Camponotus or some type of rare huge ant.

Solenopsis invicta must have flown today. Found a couple queens in the pool tonight. Will see if they are fertile or not.

I didn't get any queens other than the ponera. I now hate spiders. The ones listed that I didn't get were all in spider webs except for the neoniger which was dehydrated

Species: Acromyrmex vericolor.

Location: tucson, Arizona desert

Temp: around 80 degrees

Time: 9:00 AM

Notes: huge rain showers about 12 hours before many of the queens were diging there founding chambers and looking for a good area to dig. I could not help to catch a few
