I got this Camponotus modoc queen from Bigb, who found it and a few others on June 20th during a trip to the mountains. He said they were found as alates, but they removed their wings while in their test tubes.

She now has a little pile of various sized larvae.

I found one of these up in Idaho mauled and mutilated by Formica ravida... Really cool species!

The queen got her first worker. :) I notice these are a little smaller than all my other Camponotus.

This queen had a couple workers for a while, but they all slowly died off.
 
She has now been put into hibernation in my new "hibernation cabinet".

I just took this queen out of hibernation. She's not looking too good, so we'll see if she lays any new eggs and recovers.
