Maybe it was like buying Camponotus discolor, you don’t know if you’re going to get discolor or the sub species.
C. decipiens is not a subspecies of C. discolor.

The meme thread is certainly not dead.
Oh, sorry, just checked...I guess I just don't read it. Why am I so slow
Also, sorry for cutting off the conversation about the species

Have you managed to block of where they're escaping? Did a lot of workers escape or just a few?
Yeah It's fine now. At one point there was like 1 worker per sq. foot of my room.

Can I see a pic of the queen? If you don know the species, a queen pic would help. It could be C.modoc?

Interested buying in ants? Feel free to check out my shop!
Feel free to read my journals, like this one.
Wishlist:
Atta sp (wish they were in CA), Crematogaster cerasi, Most Pheidole species
Update: The queens have been super busy laying eggs lately, I suspect the heating has been helping. I give them like 2 mealworms a day, and they completely BODY 2 of the biggest mealworms I have, seems like they are always hungry!
As you can see they use the tubing as a satellite nest, bright future for these guys!

Hopefully, no mites are introduced… or else the future may be further…
Oh no it is okay, I freeze the mealworms before I feed it to the ants

This colony is progressing faster than expected!
