Hey everyone. So I found a bunch of queen elates today, not 100% sure if they are mated as they have their wings still, but, in the same area there were a bunch that already shed their wings (of course those got away. Lol). This was at a park in Dix Hills, Long Island, NY, USA. I don't know how to upload pictures here yet, so I'm including a link to the pictures below. They are 14mm long. (One of them shed a wing in the test tube I just noticed) Here is the link to the pictures: https://imgur.com/gallery/2L3iBnG. I'm going to go back there tomorrow to see if they are back to the log they were at again, and to see if I can catch a few of the male elates as well, just in case some of these queens are not mated. If I do, I'll send some pictures again. But, if anyone could identify this exact species, that would be great. 😀 Also, if anyone has any links to websites where I can study the different species in my area, that would be amazing. No matter what I look up, I keep finding pest control websites talking about how to get rid of ants. Thanks in advance everyone.
